The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

2022 IN REVIEW - PHOTO GALLERIES

It was nice to have representatives from the three park partners -- Ice Age Trail Alliance, Dane County Parks, and Prairie Moraine Friends, Inc. -- all there for this park event.

Feb 15, 2022: A spot of planting anyone?

An impromptu seed spreading session was held this afternoon for the few who were available on short notice.  It's a nice part of the restoration work we do and we were sorry that more could not take part.

March 1, 2022: First Prescribed Burn of the Season

The Ice Age Trail Alliance conducted a prescribed burn on the south slope of the Terminal Moraine in Prairie Moraine County Park (on-leash portion of the park).

March 3, 2022: OFS & Dave Lonsdorf seed the Ice Age Trail

Dave Lonsdorf, OFS and PMF Board Member, spent his birthday volunteering with an OFS conservation crew, spreading native seeds at Prairie Moraine Park. After finishing their work, Dave led a hike to the overlook - explaining the park's glacial history along the way.

Maybe it wasn't the best weather for a spring clean up at the park

but the dogs who came out that morning had fun and that's the main thing. Thank you to the volunteers that helped out to make Prairie Moraine a better place!

May 17, 2022: Future Farmers of America visit Prairie Moraine Park

Volunteers from the Verona Area High School FFA Chapter came to the park this week and did spring cleaning in the Pollinator Garden and Prairie Corner.  Most of the chapter members live in town, but they are all interested in ag-related applications like veterinary medicine and soil science.

September 18, 2022: Barks for Parks

Dane County Parks "Barks for Parks" - Prairie Moraine edition is a wrap for 2022!

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the park yesterday and it was very nice seeing old friends and meeting new ones. It's great that people can meet and talk with the folks who enforce, manage and volunteer in this beautiful space!

Money raised at the event will help support the park.

                October 5, 2022: Planting Day

A BIG day at Prairie Moraine park!

After many months of preparation, 75 oak saplings and 85 native shrubs were planted by Dane County Parks staff and park volunteers within the 11-acre oak savanna restoration area.
